Once again I was bored. So I did some internet surfing and discovered there is a lot of useless information out there. However, is this really useless. I guess not if I’m writing about it.

Budweiser and Oral B Mint Waxed Floss

Pop open a can of beer, and pour out one quarter of the beer.  Then tie a loop of floss through the hole in the flip top tab.  Hand the open beer can from a fence post or tree branch near where wasps are giving you the most trouble.  Wasps love beer.  They will fly into the can, and eventually drown.

Con-Tact paper and Domino Sugar

Sprinkle the sticky side of a sheet of Contact Paper with Domino Sugar.  Hang the sweetened Contact Paper wherever you wish to trap wasps.  It works.

Aunt Jemima Syrup Tip

Coating a few small pieces of cardboard with Syrup and placing them around the perimeter of the yard will attract wasps.  The stinging insects will get stuck in the gooey syrup.

IF YOU WILL NOTICE JUST ABOUT ALL OF MY TIPS HAVE ONE MAIN INGREDIENT  “SUGAR”.  Most of your cola drinks have sugar, so you don’t have to use just beer.  I purchase and buy aluminum cans for my craft and I store them out under a tree on my property.  You should see all the wasps, bees, etc., that fly into those cans.  It’s the sugar inside that they want.  Here’s some additional ways to stop these flying creatures from harming you and your family:

Bounce

To repel wasps while you’re working in the garden, tie a sheet of Bounce through one of your belt loops or the plastic flap in the back of your baseball cap.  Oleander, the fragrance in Bounce repels insects.  Bet you didn’t know that!!

Country Time Lemonade Tip

Drill several 1/2 inch holes in the plastic lid of a clean, empty jar.  Mix 4 teaspoons of Country time Lemonade Powdered drink mix and 2 cups of water in the jar and place it where wasps gather.  The stinging insects will climb into the jar and drown in the acid drink.  Works great.

Domino Sugar and ReaLemon

Drill several 1/2 inche holes in the lid of a clean, empty jar (just as above).  Mix 5 tablespoons Domino Sugar, 3 tablespoons ReaLemon Juice, and 2 cups of water in the jar.  Place this outside where you are having wasp problems.  The bees and wasps will again, fly into the jar and drown in the acid lemon juice.

It is my desire to write about things that can help everyone around their home.  Ways using products that you most likely have inside your home right now.  These tricks work, and you will not have to run to the garden centers and dish out some big money on products that do the same things as my tips listed above.  Save money, get rid of the bees and wasps, and enjoy the day.

The seventh episode of the sixth season of The Closer begins with bank robbery scene. This scene is viewed part by helicopter and part by the officers on the ground. The two robbers wearing masks run from the bank and enter a local store, taking on three hostages. The robbers also killed a security guard at the bank.

Chief Pope, Cdr Taylor are at the site along with an LAPD hostage negotiator named Hayward. After three hours, the suspects decide to send out the hostages. About this time, the FBI shows up with Fritz and another officer. While sending the hostages out the front door, the bank robbers run out the back shooting at police and are killed. Fritz looks at the robbers, and tells the FBI they are missing three more suspects. Fritz details how this group started out with small jobs, and has moved up over the last two years to banks. He explains in the past, the robbers wore baseball caps, not masks like today.

Fritz also announces he just got promoted to the position of FBI liaison with the LAPD, which is why he is helping with this case. He explains the FBI calls this group the Dear Jane gang because they always hand a note to the teller saying Dear…, we have your kids, listing them by name, please rob the bank. The gang has four robbers and a driver with a van. Fritz keeps explaining that this gang is led by a mastermind, Brenda disagrees considering the robbers didn’t even bring a getaway car.

Pope thinks that Fritz’s promotion means that Brenda is going to be the next Chief. Taylor asks if Fritz gets his own office.

Using film and other records the LAPD identifies the two gang members that were killed. They are able to locate a brother of one of the robbers who lives in LA. The LAPD also identifies a car at the bank robbery that belongs to the hostage negotiator, Hayward. This is his wife’s car.

The squad brings in both Hayward and his wife. Hayward’s wife spent the morning at her church at a meeting. During a search at the robber’s residences, the LAPD finds a receipt for a rental car exactly like the one owned by the Haywards. It looks like the Hayward’s had their license plate stolen and put on a similar car.

The LAPD go to the rental agency and try to find out if the rental car has been returned. The agent at the desk, Boyd, sends the police out back to look for another employee who received the returned car. It turns out, there isn’t another employee, Boyd is part of the gang. Boyd goes to his other partner and the LAPD follow them to the airport, where the FBI picks up Brenda’s suspects.

Brenda and Fritz have an argument at home about the FBI latching on to her bank robber suspects. Brenda feels her need to solve murders outweighs the FBI need to solve these robberies. Brenda is trying to get the FBI to tell her what Boyd told them.

Brenda finally decides to put together a search warrant based on what Fritz told her about Boyd, which was supposed to be kept between Brenda and Fritz. The LAPD then picks up the other gang member, who is the neighbor of the brother of the gang member who was killed. It also seems two of the gang members were cousins of the older brother as well. The neighbor, Glen, spills everything about the history of the gang, including identifying the ring leader.

The LAPD has one problem left, tying the ring leader to the current bank robbery, since he wasn’t there when it happened. They are able to get him on tape admitting the group cased the bank, but he told the gang not to rob this bank because it had too many exits and would be hard to escape. The rest of the gang, with the exception of Glenn, robbed the bank.

The LAPD and the FBI make a deal and trade Boyd for Glen, who had no part in the murders in LAPD. The FBI will bring their own federal charges against the gang later on.

Meanwhile, the Chief selection continues on, with the short and final list being announced. Brenda makes the short list for Chief, Pope does not. Chief Pope becomes very upset.

 Bullitt (Warner Bros./Seven Arts, 1968)

Steve McQueen plays the title character Frank Bullitt, a San Francisco police lieutenant assigned to protect mob stoolie Johnny Ross. A couple of hit men burst into the room at the Hotel Daniels where Ross is stashed, shooting him and police detective Carl Stanton. McQueen as Lt. Bullitt springs into action, trying to determine which mob boss ordered the contract on Ross. There’s plenty of action in this one, including the famous car chase scene featuring McQueen in a dark green 1968 Ford Mustang 390 CID Fastback pursuing a black Dodge Charger over the hilly streets of San Francisco. McQueen managed to do the bulk of the driving, with Bud Ekins filling in for the more dangerous stunts. Add the beautiful Jacqueline Bisset as McQueen’s gal pal and Robert Vaughn as an ambitious politician, and Bullitt burns rubber like no other crime drama.

McQueen plays the cocky Kid to near perfection, disarming a knife-wielding opponent in one scene and betting the entire store on a full house during a marathon poker session with the wily Robinson. Aiding and abetting McQueen’s performance are Karl Malden, Ann-Margret, Tuesday Weld and Rip Torn.

McQueen is mesmerizing as the irrepressible Papillon as he endures the tropical hell of Devil’s Island, including several stints at St. Joseph’s where strict silence and a plunge into total darkness nearly drive him insane. Papillon affords McQueen one of the best performances of his career, with Dustin Hoffman ably assisting him in the role of counterfeiter Louis Dega.

The War Lover (Columbia, 1962)

Steve McQueen plays Captain Buzz Rickson, a callous, hotshot American bomber pilot flying out of England in World War II. Rickson is one of the best fliers in the squadron, piloting his B-17 Flying Fortress nicknamed “The Body” in a series of perilous missions over Nazi-occupied Europe. On the ground Rickson competes for the affections of pretty British lass Daphne Caldwell (Sally Anne Field), eventually losing out to his more stable co-pilot Lt. Ed Bolland (Robert Wagner). McQueen’s arrogant Buzz Rickson certainly lives up to the film’s title, a combination hero/psychopath who later buys the farm, crashing his bomber sans crew into the white cliffs of Dover.

The Getaway (National General, 1972)

Steve McQueen plays Carter “Doc” McCoy, a Texas inmate who wins parole following the intervention of corrupt businessman Jack Benyon (Ben Johnson). The bank job goes awry, with Doc and his wife Carol (Ali MacGraw) grabbing the loot and taking off for Mexico with one of their bloodied partners in hot pursuit. Steve McQueen and girlfriend Ali MacGraw, who were later married from 1973-78, make a dandy criminal team on the lam and hell-bent for south of the border.

This is one of McQueen’s rare offbeat roles, with his New York Actors Studio training put to excellent use.

Steve McQueen plays Michael Delaney, an American Grand Prix driver participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans road race. Le Mans was racing enthusiast McQueen’s pet project, with the actor actually getting onto the track and putting a Porsche 917 through its paces. Elga Andersen as Lisa Belgetti provides the beautiful European scenery amidst the high-pitched whine of Porsches and Ferraris. Macho McQueen does Le Mans, and does it well.
