PostHeaderIcon ESPN Sunday Night Major League Baseball Game Gambling

Article by Lynn Smith

The Sunday night ESPN game is a fine one this week for gamblers wagering Major League Baseball at the sportsbook as the Dodgers host the Yankees.

The New York Yankees square off against former manager Joe Torre for the 1st time since he left the team after the 2007 season, as New York travels to encounter the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles for a three-game series this weekend.

Sunday night is the finale of a 3-game series between the 2 clubs and it will be a fine one in MLB props and futures as Andy Pettitte will be going for New York against the Los Angeles Dodgers Clayton Kershaw.

This match between the Yankees and Dodgers should get added recognition since gambling Major League Baseball is always more popular when the game is on television. It’s the last game of a short 3-game home stand for Los Angeles and the last game of a six-game road trip for New York.

It will be a battle of left-handers on Sunday with Pettitte pitching for New York while Kershaw goes for Los Angeles. Kershaw is 7-4 on the season with a 3.24 ERA. He’s been fairly reliable all season for Los Angeles and a pitcher to stick to when wagering Major League Baseball. In his last start he was doing well until the sixth inning when he had some difficulty and allowed a 3-run home run to the Angels Bobby Abreu. Prior to that loss, Kershaw had won six of his earlier decisions.

For the most recent time the Los Angeles Dodgers and Yankees met before this series began, you have to go all the way back to 2004. They competed in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Dodgers took 2 of 3 for those wagering Major League Baseball. They’ve also met 11 times in the World Series.

The AL East-leading Yankees join this series having won 4 of 5, which includes their final 2 games at Arizona this week.

Los Angeles may be the way to go in this gambling Major League Baseball matchup since the Yankees have been better at home than on the road as have the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since he usually gives New York an opportunity to win when he is on the mound, it is always tough to go against Andy Pettitte. Kershaw will have to stall a New York lineup that is 2nd in the league in runs obtained.

Kershaw had his 2nd-worst appearance of the season last time out, permitting 5 runs in 6 2/3 innings at the Angels. The left-hander has never pitched against the Yankees and the only Bomber he’s faced is Nick Swisher, who he retired in one at-bat.

Despite the fact that they haven’t gotten fantastic hitting or pitching this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are hanging around in the National League West competition. Los Angeles is only average in runs per game and in ERA. Previously in the season they were genuinely hitting the ball but now they’re having difficulties. The pitching for the Dodgers is inconsistent so it is tough to take them on a regular basis when gambling Major League Baseball.

PostHeaderIcon Buying High Quality Discounted Sports Equipment and More Online

From fishing equipment to custom cycling gear, finding quality sports gear can be a difficult task these days. Many of the local shops have very little selection available, especially if you are in need of a piece of equipment that might be a bit unusual or you need a really big size of lacrosse boots. When it comes to playing sports, having great equipment can make all the difference in the way you play the game and how you feel playing it. There are so many advantages to shopping online, no matter what your sporting equipment needs may be, look for sports equip and more online before driving all over town.

Better Selection

You will always find a better array and selection of goods when choosing to shop on the Internet. You can find not only uncommon equipment like hunting crossbows or ice fishing equipment, but also a wider variety of high quality brands too. Everybody loves having more options to choose from without having to go from store to store, and shopping online can give you access to thousands of sporting goods at your fingertips.

Custom and Professional Sporting Equipment

Depending on where you live and what kinds of sports are popular in that area it can be hard to find what you need. Many places don’t sell things like professional level baseball equipment, and if baseball is your passion then you will always try to find the best. Some sports may require that you have custom equipment that is made to fit your size or weight, like traditional archery supplies. When you need to find uncommon sporting equipment, need something custom or professional but it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere, don’t give up-go online.

Save Time and Money

Most people know that shopping online saves time and money, but still might not be convinced. If you are wondering how a company can sell the same high quality product at a discounted price, consider this. An Internet store is not paying as many employees to man a store, the overall overhead cost of rent, electricity, stocking and shipping is almost nothing compared to what a commercial store pays. Also, Internet businesses usually pay a fraction of the cost in advertising as well. You can search the web and find exactly what you are looking for and have it delivered right to your doorstep, all the while keeping more green in your pocket.

When you want to play the best game of you life, you are going to need the best equipment you can find. If you limit your search for sports equip and more to the local neighbored and mall stores you might be very disappointed. You could either end up buying something you are not fully satisfied with or compromising quality to get something that you can afford. Why waste your time and money driving around town and settling on something that might work when you could have just the piece of equipment that you wanted and the price you wanted to pay, all by shopping online?

PostHeaderIcon Chicago Baseball

Well, Chicago baseball is heating up already this Spring. Just a few games into the season, and one of last season’s two playoff-bound Chicago baseball teams is having a whole lotta shake-up going on.

Fierty White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has moved mostly untested but highly promising second baseman Chris Getz into the leadoff spot just a few games into the regular 2009 season. Although Getz made an oh-fer (0 for 4) in his leadoff man debut against the Kansas City Royals (which the Chisox lost 2-1, stranding men on base in the final inning), Guillen said he liked the way Getz took all four of his plate appearances and will leave him in the leadoff spot for the foreseeable future. Not giving Guillen a good look at the plate in the previous two games was what cost center fielder DeWayne Wise the leadoff man spot.

Speaking of his decision, the always-straight-forward Chisox manager said of Wise’s final three plate appearances the day before, “I don’t like it at all.

I think he was trying to, I don’t want to say intimidated, but just wanted to protect the plate. I want to get him out of there for a couple of days until he starts to swing the bat better. When he starts to swing the bat better or the way we think he swings the bat, I’ll move him back up to see what happens.”

The Chicago crowd certainly seemed to be in sync with Guillen’s thoughts. They booed Wise roundly the previous games before he was dropped from the leadoff spot after going 0-for-8. Wise himself is, well, none too wise about exactly why.

“I can’t figure it out. I was at home last night, and I was thinking about it. I was like, ‘Wow, it’s not just me that’s not hitting.’ I’ve kind of been the guy that’s been singled out and taken all the heat. I guess this leadoff thing has been the topic all offseason and through the entire spring training, maybe it’s because the fans wanted a veteran guy in that spot, a natural leadoff guy that’s had success on this level in that spot.”

Still, Wise and Getz, along with third baseman Josh Fields (who, though confined to the bottom of the order for now, apparently has learned how to lay down bunt-singles to make up for his lack of brilliant hitting), are all touted as potential big offense for a Chisox team that spent the off season offing some of its older veteran players to add youthful energy to those who remained. Hitting coach Greg Walker says of Wise, Getz, and Fields, “We’re excited about them. We feel like what they do mechanically holds up and they are mentally strong kids, so they should be just fine.” And manager Guillen, who calls himself a “defense guy”, has also voiced the opinion that “When you got Wise, Getz, Quentin, and then go to A.J., Fields and Ramirez, you got more ability to do more stuff. I don’t have to wait for Konerko, Dye, Thome to get hot to score some runs.”

On the mound, fireballing closer Bobby Jenks, who has been known to hit 100mph with his heaters, put aside worries from some that he was losing his already legendary velocity by consistently hitting 96 and 97mph in his appearances. so far this season. Still, he did give up the losing run in the form of a homer to non-power-hitter Coco Crisp of the Royals in the 2-1 loss. According to Jenks, Crisp hit a “cutter that didn’t cut.” But Jenks is still plenty young, the season is plenty young, and nobody’s perfect.

Chicago baseball could see a playoff repeat appearance from the 2006 World Champions this season. We’ll see how the off-season wheeling and dealing ends.

PostHeaderIcon Concert and Event Tickets are a popular Christmas Gift

Event ticket sellers in both the primary and secondary markets see a dramatic increase in sales over the holiday season as tickets are a popular gift for the holidays.  Is this just husbands giving wives NFL Football Tickets for Christmas in order to really go to the games themselves….  Not at all!

Tickets make great gifts no matter who is giving or receiving them.  If you are the person giving the tickets as a gift then perhaps you favor the idea of giving tickets as gift because you might want to provide an experience that is unforgettable, rather than something that will be used occasionally or perhaps not at all.  It’s pretty easy to determine what some people are passionate about whether it be baseball, football, basketball or hockey teams or maybe it is a favorite performing artist or perhaps even a theater performance.  Giving these event tickets as gifts are usually a sure fire way to end up with an excited gift recipient.

Younger people might enjoy receiving Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers or Taylor Swift Tickets, where the over twenty crowd may enjoy anything from Phish Tickets to Michael Buble. The even older concert fan might enjoy Bob Dylan Tickets.

The sports fan is always easy to please as well as many people easily give away their sports alliances via the the clothes they wear or maybe more subtle ways such as class rings or license plates.  One word of caution though, try and avoid giving tickets to events that your intended recipient might already have.  Any easy way to figure this out is to just try and figure out whether or not that person is a season ticket holder for that local team.

PostHeaderIcon Baseball Hitting Problem Number One On Planet Earth!

A “quick hip” is when the front hip opens a fraction of a second early. It is a very common baseball hitting problem and a very serious one for many hitters at all levels of play. The swing itself should force the front hip open. If the hip opens a fraction of a second too quick, it forces your front side to open too early and this is a recipe for disaster for a baseball player at any level of play. I don’t care if it’s T-ball or M.L.B.

If you have what is referred to as a “quick hip,” please forgive my bluntness but you will have no chance of being a successful baseball hitter. Only on an inside pitch, can you get away with opening the front hip a little bit early.

Three Major Problems Occur If You Have A Quick Hip:

1. You will not see the ball well. Your head will go along for the ride with your “quick hip” and you will be looking at the ball out of the corners of your eyes when the moment of truth arrives and you attempt to actually hit the ball. It is a a medical fact that you can’t see an object as well when looking out of the corners of your eyes. Baseball hitting is tough enough when you do see the baseball well.

2. Your power will be lost. You will be leaning toward third base if you are a right-handed hitter or toward first base if you are a left-handed hitter. That is not where the baseball hitting is taking place. The baseball hitting is taking place in front of you, not to the left or right of you.

3. Your plate coverage will be very poor. The only pitch you’ll be able to hit with any success at all is the inside pitch and low and away pitches will cause many baseball hitting problems for you.

I wonder how much young players who are struggling at the plate would improve if they made this fairly simple adjustment. And there is a very good chance that if they are struggling they may very well have a “quick hip.” Keeping the front hip closed is one of the best baseball tips on hitting you will ever hear. How common is the baseball hitting problem of having a “quick hip”?

You can check it out for yourself. When watching a game live in person or on TV, at any level of play, observe the weaker hitters. The ones who are batting .220, .230 or .240. Keep an eye on their front hip. In almost all cases, the front hip will be opening too early. On the other side of the coin, you can check out the better hitters. They will be keeping their front hip closed!

It doesn’t matter if it’s T-ball or the professional ranks, almost all the weaker hitters have this very common hitting problem. One of the most important baseball tips on hitting to remember is that baseball hitting does not take place out toward your third base coach if you are a right-handed hitter or out toward your first base coach if you are a left-hnded hitter. It takes place right in front of you. You can be your own judge when you observe the weaker players and watch their front hip. I rest my case!

PostHeaderIcon Baseball Gloves Types

Many young boys will have grown up wanting to be like their favorite baseball heroes and they would have been given baseball gloves at some point during their childhood. There are several different types of baseball gloves to choose from and you will need to research them to find out which ones are ideal for you and your child.

A baseball glove or mitt as it is often known is a leather glove which helps to protect a players hand in baseball when they are defending and catching the ball. The baseball mitts are designed to be very large enabling the players to be able to catch the ball with one hand rather than two. There are different types of baseball gloves depending on what position you are in on the field. The highest quality one are made from leather and do not have Velcro to hold it in place. This style of gloves will take some time to feel comfortable and once broken into your hand is unique to you.

You will find that on the field the baseball gloves are split between the mitts and the gloves the design that is lacking the fingers is called mitts. The catcher and first baseman will wear this variety as they have more padding and have a claw like appearance. They are hinged to provide an excellent gripping ability and are often longer and wider than other baseball mitts. These types of baseball gloves are specific to these positions on the field and are often patterned and custom made for the players.

Infielders, outfielders and pitchers gloves are smaller and have pockets to allow the players to remove the ball quickly and return it to the field. Some of these gloves will have open webbing and others will be closed. This will depend on the position on the field that the player is stood in the open webbing is designed to allow the player to remove dirt and debris from the glove. All of the baseball gloves are sized by measuring from the tip of the index finger of the glove down to the heel of the glove.

Although children’s baseball gloves are very similar to adults ones they are smaller in size and will often only be 9 inches long. All of the different types of baseball gloves are made from leather different manufacturers are making them with softer leathers. Kangaroo and buffalo hides are often now used to make the gloves softer and easier to break in. The baseball gloves will be made by machines so they are all identical apart from the custom made ones. These will be far more expensive and take longer to produce. Many top baseball players will have their own custom made baseball mitts to play with.

Whatever design and style of baseball glove you decide on you will need to research them well and know exactly what you are buying. You can purchase the different types of baseball gloves online or in a sports shop. Everyone likes to own their own glove even if it is to throw some balls in the backyard with the family.

PostHeaderIcon A Babe Ruth Baseball Bat Sells For $1.3 Million!

Article by Terry Edwards

As incredible as it may sound, the old baseball bat that Babe Ruth used in hitting a home run in the very first game at Yankee Stadium, sold for nearly .3 million at an auction recently.

Sotheby’s auction house sold the bat on December 2, 2006 at their auction. No other baseball bat in history has ever come close to selling for as much as this one used by the immortal Babe Ruth.

In fact, the second highest bat that has ever been sold was one that went for 7,610 in 2001. It was a bat used by the infamous “Shoeless” Joe Jackson. You may remember him as being one of the players who were banned from baseball for their part in the famous Chicago White Sox scandal in 1919.

Who purchased the Babe’s bat? At the moment the buyer is not known. It is believed that the person is a supposed collector and hobbyist of baseball collectables. What may be even more incredible is that a spokesman for the buyer told reporters afterwards that they were prepared to pay an even higher amount for the baseball bat.

In a bit or irony, the bat was used to hit the home run on April 18, 1923, in a game against who else, but their arch rivals, the Boston Red Sox. What is even more ironic is the fact that the bat sold for what it nearly cost to build Yankee Stadium at the time. The original Yankee Stadium was built at a cost of .4 million dollars. Hard to imagine isn’t it?

How did the Babe Ruth baseball bat survive the test of time to get to this point? The story goes that Babe Ruth’s agent, a woman by the name of Christy Walsh, originally gave the bat away in a home run contest many years ago. The player who won the bat held onto it through his death, and in his will, gave it to his personal nurse. She decided to try and sell the bat and use the funds to open up a cafe that she has always dreamed of doing. With a little help from others, Sotheby’s became involved and the rest is now history.

Although this is the most expensive bat ever sold, it is not the most expensive price that has been paid for a piece of baseball memorabilia. The record holder? Currently, the record is million for the baseball that Mark McGwire hit for home run #70 in 1998. The buyer was a comic book artist by the name of Todd McFarlane.

PostHeaderIcon Seo – How to Get Perfect Keyword For Your Website

The first thing people do when searching for something they are interested in is usually to go to Google and type in their keywords. Google will then return a list of results that are relevant to the keywords they typed in.

The sites on the first page of the Google results are the sites that are going to generate the most traffic from search engines. The sites on the second page of the Google results will likely generate a nice amount of traffic from search engines too but the farther back in the search result pages a site is, the less traffic it will receive.

Obviously the beginning pages of Google are where you want your site to be so that you can reap the benefits of those searches.

Some keywords and keyword phrases are more competitive than others. Broad keyword phrases are usually very competitive, making it harder to get to the top of search engine results.

Choosing your keywords carefully will give you a better chance of ranking high and driving traffic. When determining what your keywords will be, think like a buyer or a person who is seeking information that you have to offer. Searches for, the first thing you want to do is see how many searches per day your potential keywords are getting. You can use the free keyword tool at Google keyword tools to do this.

There you can enter the keywords you are thinking of using and find out how many searches per day they re getting. As a general rule, using a keyword that gets at least 100 searches per day is a good idea. If a keyword is only getting 10-20 searches per day, you m ay not get a lot of traffic from it.As an example, let s say you re selling baseball ba ts.

If you used the keyword tool referenced above, and entered “aluminum baseball bats”, you would see that the results were not too hot. At the time of this writing, the phrase doesn’t get too brought to You by 30 Minute Back links many searches per day, about 22. So we really want to shoot for a keyword or phrase that gets more searches.

If you next tried “baseball bats”, you d see that it gets 700+ searches per day. Underneath the results for that phrase are results for other similar phrases. The next result is “youth baseball bats” and it gets 152 searches per day. That’s a good phrase to use if baseball bats are your thing. It gets at least 100 searches per day and it s not an overly broad term with lots of competition. After you have selected a good keyword or phrase via the keyword tool, the next thing you ll want to do is go back to Google and search for this phrase to gauge how hard it might be to rank at the top for it.

Enter your keyword phrase into the Google search and check out the results. If all of the sites returned on the front page of Google for that phrase are well-established sites like Wikipedia, CNN.com, etc., it might be a little harder to rank at the top because your competition are solid, established sites. On the other hand, if some of the results on the front page are social media sites, you have a good chance of snatching a top ranking and this is a good keyword phrase to go after.
